Find & cite
Cite a resource in three steps.
Look it up, copy the citation, paste it into your methods. If the resource has no RRID yet, you can request one.
Step 1
Search the portal
Search rrid.site by name, catalogue number or vendor.
Open rrid.siteStep 2
Copy the citation
Each record shows a ready-made citation with the RRID.
Step 3
Paste it into your methods
Where you first mention the resource, or in a Key Resources Table.
What a citation looks like
Name, source and catalogue number, then the RRID.
No RRID yet?
Request one on the portal. Most requests are confirmed the same working day (see our registry audit).
Add a resource on rrid.siteResolve an RRID
Put any RRID behind one of these addresses:
scicrunch.org/resolver/RRID:SCR_003070
n2t.net/RRID:SCR_003070
identifiers.org/RRID:SCR_003070
Frequently asked
My journal does not ask for RRIDs. Should I add them anyway?
Yes. RRIDs are found by text mining wherever they appear, and they help readers reproduce your work.
The vendor discontinued my antibody. Does the RRID still work?
Yes. Records are never deleted, so the RRID keeps pointing to the same antibody.
Can I cite RRIDs in a preprint?
Yes. On bioRxiv, SciScore checks the methods of new preprints and suggests a Key Resources Table with RRIDs.
